Position Overview:
The Prep Cook in the food technology sector is responsible for preparing ingredients and assisting in the production of food items. This role ensures that all preparation meets quality and safety standards, supporting efficient kitchen operations and product consistency.

Key Responsibilities:
Ingredient Preparation:
Wash, peel, chop, and measure ingredients according to recipes and production specifications.
Organize and store ingredients in designated areas to maintain freshness and accessibility.
Cooking Support:
Assist in the cooking and assembly of food products under the guidance of chefs or supervisors.
Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure proper food safety and quality.
Equipment Operation:
Operate kitchen equipment, such as mixers, slicers, and ovens, safely and effectively.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen tools and equipment.
Quality Control:
Conduct visual and taste checks to ensure food products meet quality standards.
Report any discrepancies in ingredient quality or equipment functionality to management.
Inventory Management:
Help manage inventory levels by monitoring supplies and notifying supervisors when restocking is needed.
Assist with receiving and storing deliveries of food products and ingredients.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow all food safety regulations and sanitation practices during food preparation.
Adhere to health and safety protocols to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Collaboration:
Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; culinary training or experience in food preparation is a plus.
Experience: Previous experience as a prep cook or in a kitchen environment is preferred.

Skills:
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately.
Basic knife skills and knowledge of food safety practices.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions:
Work in a commercial kitchen or food production environment, which may involve exposure to heat, noise, and various food products.
May require standing for long periods and lifting items up to 50 lbs.
