Job Description
Position Overview: Sanitation workers are responsible for the collection, transportation, and disposal of waste materials in a safe and efficient manner. They help maintain public health and cleanliness in residential, commercial, and industrial areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Waste Collection:
Collect waste and recyclables from designated routes using garbage trucks.
Ensure timely and efficient collection to minimize disruption to the community.
Sorting and Recycling:
Sort recyclable materials from regular waste to promote sustainability.
Equipment Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance on collection vehicles and equipment.
Report any mechanical issues or safety hazards to supervisors.
Safety Practices:
Adhere to safety protocols while handling hazardous materials.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Experience: Previous experience in waste management or a similar field is a plus.
Skills:
Ability to operate sanitation vehicles and equipment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy loads.
Working Conditions:
Outdoor work in various weather conditions.
Early morning or late-night shifts may be required.
May involve exposure to unpleasant odors and potentially hazardous materials.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
